Apres une dure semaine de travail harassante ;-) Premier week-end aux Etats Unis d'Amerique, et premiere visite touristique. Au programme, vu le temps qu'il a fait, promenade en voiture, le long de la "Historic Columbia River Highway".
Petit cours d'histoire, l'autoroute a ete construite entre 1913 et 1922, et officielement ouverte en 1916. Ce fut la premiere route des USA a etre consideree comme une route touristique, avec des arrets pour admirer la vue, les attractions locales,... (comme chez nous la route des gorges de l'Ardeche on va dire.
La route fait environs 120km de long et serpente le long de la riviere Columbia, qui separe l'etat de l'Oregon avec celui de Washington (l'etat, pas la capitale...). La route est quelque fois a flanc de colline, et d'ailleurs lors des plans pour la construction, les ingenieurs se sont inspires de certaines routes de montagnes suisse.
Bon apres toutes ces anecdotes historiques (merci internet) voila quelques photos, je ne vais vous decrire les photos une par unes, je pense qu'on voit bien sur les photos, comme c'est humide/mouille, y'a qu'a voir le nombre de cascades, la quantite de mousse sur les arbres :

Je vous mets quand meme une photo de moi en mode touriste, pour pas qu'apres les mauvaises langues disent que j'y etais pas et tout ca...que c'a a ete fait en studio...
Les photos suivantes sont celles de la cascade de Multnomah, qui sont les 2emes plus hautes cascades des USA, avec au pied le "lodge" ou j'ai mange un burger maison au coin de la cheminee (moi, pas le burger a la cheminee...)
Petite anecdote, il y a beaucoup de mariages et beaucoup de photos typiques prises sur le pont entre les deux cascades, et un jour, dans les annees 80, je crois, un bloc de roche s'est detache d'en haut, de la taille d'un gros bus, et s'est ecrase au pied de la cascade, provoquant un enorme gerbe d'eau, ou justement il y avait un mariage, et il y a eu plusieurs blesses.
Le pont suivant se nomme le pont des dieux (bridge of the gods) qui tient son nom d'un evenement geologique qui s'est produit a cet endroit au 18eme siecle. Un enorme glissement de terrain s'est produit a cet endroit la et la legende raconte qu'il a completement coupe la Columbia river, formant un barrage naturel, une sorte de pont, et les indiens en voyant cette sorte de pont ont dit que c'etait le pont des dieux. Bien sur la riviere a repris sa place et le glissement de terrain a disparu. Le pont marque aujourd'hui la fine de la route touristique.
Dans les cascades il n'est pas rare de voir des enormes saumons, que certains "natives" (indiens) attrapent et revendent ca dans des glacieres sur les parking de "dinners" (d'ou l'enseigne). Toutes mes excuses pour les photos, ont distinguent a peine les saumons, mais bon l'idee est la...
Comme promis une photo de ma voiture de location, et deception, ce n'est pas une Ford Mustang dernier modele, ou encore un enorme 4x4 que les americains affectionnent tout particulierement (d'ailleurs il faut que je vous en prenne quelque uns en photos) et encore de no jours avec le prix de l'essence, c'est plus ce que c'etait...donc oui ma voiture est une Hyundai Elantra, mais vous avez vu la plaque, jolie, non?
Voila pour ce samedi. Dimanche retour a la dure realite capitaliste et petit tour de shopping au "Washington Square Mall" un enorme centre commercial, le temple de la consomation, plus de 170 magasins, des restaurants, des attractions (il avait un defile de mode hier avec apparement une star de la tele local, specialise dans les "make overs" , quand il transforment les pires tetes en super top-models)
Et bien sur j'ai fait quelqes achats, mais bon pour le moment motus et bouche cousu. Je suis en lihne directe avec le Pere Noel.
